History. The study of the past. The writing of world events dominated by human which then includes civilizations, wars, development, important figures and human achievemnents.
History has witnessed the magnificence of Malacca which founded by Parameswara, a Srivijayan prince that flourished throughout the Straits of World Trades. The later Sultan Muzaffar Shah, Sultan Mansur Shah and Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah have ruled Malacca to its glory and fame. Its famous warrior, Hang Tuah well-known for his wisdom and agility served as the maintainer of this prosperous soil and bring vainglory to the Land of the Majesty.
History watched as the Malay folklore told of the beauty of Puteri Gunung Ledang were unchallenged until it drove the last Sultan of Malacca to madness but yet the grace of Tun Teja shone in the Palace of Malacca remains as the Queen.
History remembers the legendary Mahsuri of Langkawi with her curse during her death penalty. The word she uttered in sadness and anger, due to false allegation for adultery.
“For I’m treated without justice and compassion, I’ll cursed this land for 7 generations of bad luck! If white blood spurred from my wound that stabbed by you, mark that I’m innocent. Thus my curse will become true and you shall see nothing except for destruction and doom on this land!”
Her curse came into being since the island suffered Siamese invasion and decades of failing crops that only ends in 20th century, with Langkawi now renowned as tourist attraction.
Kedah Kingdom and Langkasuka was marked by history as the two early sign of power and the oldest civilization in Malaysia which before known as Tanah Melayu. Kadaram and Lang-Ya-Xiu, another name for the kingdoms which becomes the important route trade for the East and the West for centuries ago.
Do you know that this land, the Malay Peninsula was once known as ‘Suvarnabhumi’, a Sanskrit term which refer to the ‘Golden Land’ by foreign travelers. This was because of its riches in natural resources and was land of wealth for people to come in to buy and sell. For the same reason, this land was conquered by foreign powers who seek to take advantage of its treasures either by hook or by the crook. The Portuguese, the Dutch, the Japanese and the British were among the colonialists whom control the power of administration of this land for their own profit.
Then, our forefather, fighters who fought for this land’s freedom merged to liberate our realm from being manipulated by the outsiders. Tok Janggut of Kelantan, Datuk Maharajalela of Perak, Datuk Bahaman of Pahang, Rentap of Sarawak and Monsopiad of Sabah. Recall back their sacrifice to win again our freedom.
Our five Prime Ministers who brought change to our motherland, turning into a well-known developing country. Tunku Abul Rahman, Father of Independence who gained our freedom and formed Malaysia, a federation of 13 states and 3 federal territories.
Tun Abdul Razak, Father of Development with his New Economic Policy to reduce the socioeconomic disparity between races.
Tun Hussien Onn, Father of Unity who struggles to maintain our harmonious society and combated the drug menace seriously and with enthusiasm.
Tun Mahathir Mohamad, Father of Modernization who turned Malaysia into a regional high-tech manufacturing, financial and telecummonication hub.
Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who battles against corruptive practices to enhance internal security and imposed the Islam Hadhari principles.
Now, with Datuk Seri Najib, we continue our struggle for 1 Malaysia concept with the slogan ‘People First, Performance Now’ and preserve our precious gift from our ancestors which is the independence.
